Midmar Paths Group

The Midmar Paths Group is a community of volunteers, many of whom are Midmar Shedders. The aim of the group is to open up overgrown footpaths, maintain existing paths, and make improvements where appropriate.

There was a significant amount of work conducted on the paths during 2024, with several significant path improvements, and a few new routes opened up.

Milton Burn Footbridge replacement

The footbridge over the Milton Burn was due for renewal, as quite a bit of the wood was in a sorry state, with rot starting to take over.
In early summer 2022 the dry span (on the Comers side) was replaced. This year the wet span, over the burn, was replaced, with additional work to shore up the piers holding the bridge up off the stream-bed. Gabions were also placed under the abutment at the bank to help prevent further erosion during flood events.
