09-Sept: Walls going Up
The walls for the new Shed were erected today, with a great effort by the Shedders.
05-Sept: The wall plate is installed, roof trusses were delivered
The wall plate was installed around the whole perimeter and the internal wall.
04-Sept: Roof trusses delivered
The roof trusses were delivered in the afternoon, as well as a separate delivery of timber for the wall plates.
01-Sept: Shed Walk
it was a shaping up to be a fairly grim day, with low cloud and rain showers, so instead of walking the Hill of Fare ridge from end-to-end, we invoked Plan-B and walked around Learney hill clockwise.
01-Aug on: Wall panel modifications
Several weeks during August were spent making modifications to the wall panels to fit our requirements. Excess panels were deconstructed to reuse the timber for other requirements.
31-Jul: Collect several loads of donated wood and PIR insulation from a local company.
17-Jul: HOT DAY. Second pour of concrete for the sub-floor
Yes, it was a very warm day. Not only that, the screeder that we had hired did not work, so we had to manualatic the largest area requiring screeding. The hose was also out to irrigate the concrete so that it did not dry out too quickly.
07-Jul: Install DPM, and steel mesh
In preparation for the second pour of concrete. All the shuttering had been removed previously, and the expansion joints installed.
25-Jun: First pour of concrete
All hands on deck to shift, level and screed the concrete over half of the sub-floor.
10-12 Jun: Installing DPM, steel mesh and shuttering
All in preparation for the first pour of concrete
06-Jun: Steel mesh moved to site
In preparation for laying the DPM and steel mesh, the mesh was moved from outside the Shed to adjacent to the new foundations. Good early morning workout ...
02-Jun: Shed Walk along the Gordon Way
Three Shedders walked 11.7km along the Gordon Way. Starting the walk near Keig and finishing at the Bennachie Visitor Centre. Clear day with great views of Aberdeenshire.
23-May: Wall panels checked
a group of 5 shedders unstacked, measured and restacked the 150mm wall panels to assess what alterations may be required. A few sore muscles the next day. See pictures here
22-May: Midmar Paths Mower lives!
After some fairly major mechanical work the lawn tractor that was donated has been resurrected and put into use cutting a couple of the community paths.
14-May: Wall panels arrive
Thanks to Miller Plant Ltd. our wall panels arrived onsite today. 5 stacks from Kintore delivered by low-loader. See pictures here
29-Mar: Learig Concert
The Learig Amateur Orchestra held a concert, with profits being shared between TWO Men's Sheds. It was a great evening at the Mannofield Church.
